About Dan

The art of bowmaking

My Story

With over 15 years of experience in traditional bow making, I am the artisan behind Devonshire Longbows, specialising in handcrafting longbows using time-honoured techniques and natural materials. Each bow is shaped by hand using traditional methods and carefully selected materials. From the first cut of the stave to the final finish, every step is done with attention to balance, feel, and durability.

My expertise extends to multi-wood laminates and recurve designs. These are not decorative pieces - they are made to be drawn, shot, and enjoyed.

Beyond bow making, I craft high-quality leather archery accessories, including hip and back quivers, arm bracers, and calico longbow bags. Passionate about preserving the heritage of traditional archery, I have demonstrated my craft at National Trust sites across the UK, offering live demonstrations.

Client Testimonials

Trusted by archers and first-time shooters alike

"The bow is awesome - it's a true masterpiece and I'm extremely grateful. I'm glad I went for the backing; I think this works well for me. Shoots beautiful.

I have shown it to mates here - one said he would like one at some stage.

Thank you Dan for all your hard work and craftsmanship".
